Still Trying Hard Not To Be A Pro-Bummer Anymore
Well... although my previous interview kinda dampened my spirit... but nonetheless, I still have to get a job... and I was happy to get another interview with Inspidea. Already 4 of my ex-classmates are currently working there and they brief me on wat to expect on the interview. A character and its facial expressions and the bedroom. OK la... set ah... no problem la.
So yesterday it was... my interview with Inspidea. I was greeted with familiar faces... as I was filling in the application form in the conference room, there they were... outside through the looking-glass were the talents behind the studio's animation... watching Tom and Jerry. I couldn't help but smile to myself. And was mortified as Kit pressed his face onto the glass.
Then the boss came in and glanced through my application form... he asked me why the interest in animation and why I did business and marketing at first. Bla bla bla.... then he wanted to see how well I can draw.
He asked me what I love to draw. "Women!" without even thinking I blurted out. I tot maybe he would let me draw them... then he said this...
Him : Hmm... I would like you to draw an animal...
An animal?!?!?!?! Holy $#!^~~
Him : Make it a half human half animal.... draw me a boy version.
BOY?!?!?! No girl???
Him : Gimme 2 facial expressions and draw me his bedroom which represents his personality of a young and energetic yet smart character.
Wah lau.... "ani kuan ah"*
Him : And lastly, I would like you to draw out his world or city... the kind of environment your character would be in...
You wan a "SIMI AH?!?!?!"* Why aren't you giving me the same thing you gave the others?!?!?!
He gave me an hour to complete this... I was stunned... but I had to do it... it was now or never. An hour later he came back and saw my drawings..... I was so nervous... I swore I could almost hear my heart panicking....
"Clearly you can draw," he said.... Oh God!!! Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!
"Tell me... what is your main skill"
I smiled... and said... "I can talk"
and the rest is history ^-^
